Owners of Know How

Dale Rutledge

Dale Rutledge began his logistics career with Burlington Air Express (BAX Global) in 1987 working in night operations. Soon after he was promoted to customer service, and then to a sales territory manager.  In 1994, Dale was chosen as director of exhibit and trade show services where he led the global effort of promoting and servicing the trade show industry.

Dale Rutledge took a leap of faith in October of 1998 and left BAX Global to start his own trade show logistics company, Expo-Link Cargo. After the events surrounding September 11, 2001, he opened his second business, Rover, Inc., which provided residential and commercial waste hauling to the community where he was raised.  Starting with 200 of his neighbors, the company grew to over 10,000 customers, a city contract, 5 trucks, and 10 employees.  He successfully sold the company to Waste Industries in the summer of 2011.

After the sale of Rover, Inc., Dale decided to run for the Georgia House of Representatives.  He launched his campaign in the winter of 2011. Dale won the primary election July of 2012 by a 70% margin and faced no opponent in the general election of November 2012.  He served eight years in the Georgia State House up until January 1, 2021.

Since the Georgia State legislature is part time, he continued managing the trade show business through Expo-Link Cargo. In 2013, he took on the position as Vice President of Business Development with J&P Hall Express. Where he remained up until the buyout of J&P Hall Express by Forward Air, which was final on June 1, 2021.

When Dale is not working, he enjoys playing golf, getting out on the lake, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Kevan Patterson

Kevan Patterson graduated from Georgia Southern University and began his logistics career in 2014 as a CSR with Brown Integrated Logistics. In 2016, he accepted a brokerage and sales position with Landstar Global Logistics. Just over a year later, he returned to Brown Integrated Logistics in a Project Manager role. In 2019 he signed on with J&P Hall Express to head their Truckload Division, joining the Air Freight community.

As is evident in Kevan’s rapid ascension to Management, his drive and commitment to providing world-class customer service have been recognized by employers and customers alike. He attributes his success to building lasting relationships which have allowed him to accomplish a dedicated network, fostering the seamless flow of time-sensitive goods throughout his years in the industry.

Kevan’s mission has long been to start his own Transportation company and following the recent acquisition of J&P Hall Express, he believes now is the time. Mile Marker Logistics will provide the same customer-oriented experience with a drive and a dedication to “Getting the Job Done”. Around-the-clock availability coupled with the knowledge to provide supply chain solutions rapidly are the tip of the iceberg for what Kevan knows will be a successful contribution to the Atlanta market and beyond.

Outside of work, Kevan enjoys experiencing new places with his wife Sommer and any activities involving the outdoors with his family. He is a volunteer Unified Partner with the Special Olympics in Henry County and has coached youth Basketball in his Church’s Upward program. His oldest son Chandler is attending college while his younger children Julian, Emma, and Shealynn are student-athletes at their local Christian Academy. A full plate providing the extra motivation to keep the wheels turning and customer satisfaction high!

“There is more credit and satisfaction in being a first-rate truck driver than a tenth-rate executive.”
